The Association for Women in Communications (AWC) is a professional organization that champions the advancement of women across all communications disciplines by recognizing excellence, promoting leadership and positioning its members at the forefront of the evolving communications era.

Women in Communications has been around for almost 100 years—founded in 1909 by seven female journalism students at the University of Washington in Seattle, who thought women needed help breaking into the writing profession and that they should get paid as much as men for their efforts.
