Who We Are
The Association for Women in Communications is a professional organization that champions the advancement of women across all communications disciplines by recognizing excellence, promoting leadership and positioning its members at the forefront of the communications era.
A Century of Women in Communications
In 1909, seven female journalism students at the University of Washington at Seattle started an organization to help women break into communications professions and get paid as much as men for their efforts. Today, The Association for Women in Communications is a strong network of over 3,000 professionals working in a range of communications fields.
Representing the full spectrum of the communications industry, AWC members share their knowledge. Network and learn new skills at our monthly events, get lower rates on chapter and national events and join a close-knit group of women who help each other develop professionally.
