Jennifer Slawson

Jennifer Slawson works for AARP as a Specialist in Organizational Relations, which is a newly formed department within the Membership Group that serves AARP by forming mutually beneficial relationships with outside organizations. Previously, Jennifer was working at Corporate Executive Board as a Marketing Associate where she was responsible for generating membership leads for the Marketing Leadership Council. Before heading out to Washington, DC, Jennifer was a 2001 graduate of Purdue University where she received a BA in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations.

Prior to graduating in 2001, Jennifer held various internship positions and work-related experiences in the field of communication. Among these experiences, she worked as a Brand Marketing Intern for Ketchum in San Francisco, as a Public Relations Intern for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and as an Advertising Representative for The Purdue Exponent--Purdue University's campus newspaper.

During her time at Purdue, Jennifer was active in many campus organizations. AWC is one such organization where she held offices as President, VP of Programs, and Newsletter Editor. In addition to AWC involvement, Jennifer was also a Hosting Coordinator for the Purdue Foundation Student Board, a Student Ambassador for the School of Liberal Arts' Dean's Ambassador Program, and a volunteer usher for the Convo Voice Network. For her work with the Purdue University Student Chapter of AWC, Jennifer was acknowledged as the 2001 Rising Star Award recipient given by AWC National Headquarters.

While working for AARP in DC, Jennifer has been involved with the AWC-DC Professional Chapter since graduating from Purdue in 2001. She was selected as the 2001 Class Representative for the Purdue Alumni Association Board of Directors, where she will serve as a voting Board member until June 2004. Jennifer is also an active member of the Purdue Club of DC.
