What: Hot or not: Buzz-worthy Internet Communications Technology for 2005
An interactive discussion with Shabbir Safdar, CTO of Mindshare Interactive Campaigns

A number of Internet technologies are beginning to get a lot of press: wikis, ringtones, SMS, RSS, and more. Sound foreign to you? Shabbir Safdar, Chief Technologist of Mindshare Interactive Campaigns, will explain these technologies and more in a language you can understand. He will provide a guide for how to use these new communications opportunities.

Shabbir Safdar helps Mindshare's clients navigate the technological marketplace to find the right solution for their campaigns. Whether it's integrating an off-the-shelf product or designing something new, Shabbir uses his expertise to help clients find the right balance of innovation, maintainability and cost.

He is a recipient of the Electronic Frontier Foundations’ Pioneer Award for his work defending free speech and privacy on-line. Prior to starting Mindshare in 1997, Shabbir served as vice president for Information Security at Goldman, Sachs & Co. He also established and led the Voters Telecommunications Watch (VTW), an ad-hoc group, which with its partner organizations, was successful in ensuring the right to defend freedom of speech and privacy on the Internet. Shabbir serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Washington Board of Trade. He received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Purdue University and is a native of St. Louis, Mo.
