6th Annual National
Freedom of Information Day Conference
Date: Tuesday,
March 16
Location:
Freedom Forum's World Center, Arlington, Va.
There is no charge
for the conference, but participants must register in advance because space is
somewhat limited.
The conference is sponsored by the First Amendment Center, in cooperation with
the American Library Association, and will begin with continental breakfast at
8 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m.
This year's program will include keynote speakers in the morning and
at lunch, a panel discussion on the conflict between access and security
and one on secrecy
as public policy, and presentations by more than 25 experts and policy-makers.
The ALAβs James Madison Award also will be presented. The program will conclude
with a rousing roundtable on such topics as access cases currently before the
Supreme Court; the Health Insurance Accountability and Portability Act; electronic
court records; and updates on legislation and judicial decisions.
