AWC announces the Ruth Weyand Award to recognize organizations that have made outstanding contributions in advancing women in the workplace. See http://www.womcom.org/weyandaward.html for previous award winners.
The award is named after an attorney, who in a practice of law that spanned 50 years, is credited for making major advances in the areas of equal pay, pension rights, and anti-discrimination in the workplace.
To nominate on organization, please submit a letter of nomination and include appropriate supporting materials (annual report, brochures, publications). Entries will be judged by the national AWC board based on the following:
- Promotion of women: percentage of women in top positions and on the board of directors
- Availability of child care and flexible pay policy providing for pre-tax child care funding
- Salary Levels
- Flexible work schedules
- Family Leave Policy
- Tuition Reimbursement/Training Assistance
- Community Support for women
Nominations are due on May 17. Submit a letter of nomination and supporting materials no later than May 17, 2002 to AWC Headquarters at pat@womcom.org
