AWC logo 2008-2009 Scholarship Application

At the Spring Matrix program, the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) Washington, DC Chapter will award a $1,000 scholarship for school year 2008-2009 to the student who meets the following criteria and submits the best application packet:

  • Current sophomore or junior female student attending a Washington, DC-area university or college studying communications, advertising, journalism, public relations, marketing, graphic arts, or a related field
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Work experience in communications or related field
  • Active in extra-curricular activities including family obligations, volunteer work, club and organization involvement that show versatility and commitment
  • Submit a 500-word essay on communications career plans/goals
  • Submit at least two letters of recommendation
  • Submit current, official transcript.

Deadline: All entries must be received by Monday, April 21, 2008, 5pm EST (new deadline).

Essay must be typed, double-spaced. Please mail your essay with a signed copy of the application along with:

  1. A recommendation from a professor who teaches in the department of your major course of study.
  2. A recommendation from one other professor (any discipline).
  3. An official, current transcript of your grades.
